Geo Song
Hi,
This is Ashley. And yes Sylvia Crystal-Jones is a name I made up, when I was, like 12? And its kinda stuck as my username for everything.
*cough* Moving on, this is a song I created to do with the Demographical Transitional Model. Information is kinda vague, but I was desperate.
Basically, I kinda blamed myself for my group failing that rap back at the beginning of the topic. So I made this.
It is to the tune of this song:
Which is called Complication by ROOKiEZ is PUNK'D [weird name much?]
It is in Japanese BTW and the picture on the video is of Durarara!! because this was the second Opening Theme Song for that programme. [and is a favourite japanese cartoon of mine.] And if your wondering, I don't usually listen to Japanese Music...
LYRICS:
Verse 1:
We're gonna learn the acronyms for the Demographic Transitional Model.
We'll start with the Birth Rate, or the BR to you.
Children are gonna spread throughout the land with rising frequency.
We need more houses, schools and places to e-at too.
Pre Chorus:
Babies are rising fast
Are they gonna last?
The Death Rate sa-ays no,
They are gonna-a go,
Infants gonna die,
And mothers gonna cry,
Cos they always seem to die.
Chorus:
[We're gonna learn] the B.R, D.R,
I.M, N.I
D.T.M
and the Z. P. G.
Woah o-ah
For Geography
[We're gonna learn] the B.R, D.R
I.M, N.I
D.T.M
and the Z. P. G
For E in Geography
Verse 2 [I half 'rap' half sing this bit. And the rhythm is slightly different to the song. Also, this was the bit where I had trouble with words...]
Now we're onto the Zero Population Growth
Opposite of the Natural Increase
Never up, never down, Oh my Singapore
Is there gonna be any more?*
Stage 1, Stage 2, 'Thopia, China
Stage 3, Stage 4 Brits and Yanks
We're all in this
We're all in that**
Why'd I have to do this rap?
High Stationary
High Expanding
Low Expanding then
Low Stationary
Then comes Stage 5, with the Zero Population Growth
Like Japan, Sweden and Hong Kong
Yes it's hard to wrap, dontcha know?
That some countries don't even have snow?
Ms Young*** for the win,
Sorry, just had to slip that in.
Pre Chorus
Chorus
Instrumental~
Babies are rising fast
Are they gonna-a last?
The Death Rate say-s no,
they are gonna go...
And that's the D. T. M.
Chorus
Instrumental
End.
*What I'm trying to say here is that are there going to be anymore like Singapore that has declining [?] population
**Every country is categorised in the DTM
***To be honest, anything could be said here, but I think we all can agree that Ms Young suits this bit best.
And yeah. I'll try to do a recording on Saturday, but no promises though.
~Sylvia
Cross words
Today we are working on creating a cross word using http://puzzlemaker.discoveryeducation.com/CrissCrossSetupForm.asp
you need to create a criss cross puzzle of at least 20 words related to the population topic. For the people who are not here - Rebecca you create for Anna, Sarah you create one for Rebecca and Anna you have to create one for Sarah.
You are able to use all the words I put on the board or try creating your own.
I really like this activity because you have to learn the words and ensure you know the meaning and then you get to practice again when you do one created by someone else.
Another way of doing this creating flass cards - eg
You can use these for other people to test you and for all you verbal learners you can get parents invovled!!
think of maybe 20 key words or things you need to know and create your cards. If it helps - draw on them, colour them and use differnet fonts. For those of you who prefer to do this by hand - use speech cards to make them

Fertility Rates | Millionaire City | Accessibility |
The number of babies born per woman. The higher this is, the more likely the population is in stages 2 or 3 of the DTM | In New Zealand there is only one – Auckland with 1.4 million | This is an IGI and in population accessibility to the coast, transport and services are important. |

Decision making.
I was contemplating whether or not I should join this blogger thing now or later. I figured its Geo! Why not.
Plus this day has just been filled with Geography so might as well put the icing on the cake....

How Did the Mock Exams Go?
Hi,
Class is going to use the blog for revision/reflection and generally sharing our thoughts about what we're doing in class.
